Maria Isabel Lopez Rodriguez was born in Ayamonte, Huelva in Andalusia in Spain on January 4th 1995, making her thirteen years old and a Capricorn. She has one older brother, named Saul, who's 21, and lives with her parents in Ayamonte. She loved singing and dancing from a young age and in 2004 entered Spain's Eurojunior contest, designed to pick Spain's entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Maria's song 'Antes Muerta Que Sencilla' ('I'd Rather Be Dead Than Plain') came first place and she and her four dancers (Alba, Carolina, Anabel and Sara) travelled to Lillehammer in Norway to compete in the JESC. 'Antes Muerta Que Sencilla' was a hit with Europe and Maria won the contest with 171 points, beating the second place United Kingdom (140) by 31 points, the highest ever gap of points in the JESC. In 2005, Maria released her first album, 'No Me Toques Las Palmas Que Me Conozco' (Don't Play the Palms Because I Know Myself'(?))which, in Spain alone, sold 400000 copies. Her second album, released in October of that year, was called 'Maria Isabel Numero 2' ('Maria Isabel Number 2') and went platinum. Maria's third album - Capricornio - was released in late 2006 and is currently at 28 in the Spanish charts. Its highest place has been 11 and it’s already gone Gold! Maria's current project is a film - Angeles S.A. - a musical comedy in which Maria Isabel plays a girl, of the same name, who's father dies and he takes on the role of her Guardian Angel after discovering she doesn't have one. The accompanying CD Soundtrack of the film was released on the 27th of November and includes DVD footage as well as a necklace, seen in the film, and a jewellery box. Angeles S.A. was released in Spanish cinemas on the 21st of December and has proved to be a big hit!
